Are louvered pergolas private from neighbors?
A louvered roof can screen a view from directly overhead when closed, but open sides still leave the seating visible from a neighboring yard. The Louvano Sera Motorized Louvered Pergola louvers travel from 0 to 120 degrees. Any side closure needs separate confirmation. Artigwall also notes that a pergola frame alone offers little privacy.
Closed blades cover a look straight down through the roof. They do not hide the sofa from the fence.
Check views through the roof from upstairs windows
A closed roof obstructs a view directly through the louvers from above. An angled view from an upstairs window can still reach the patio through an open side, so test the actual line of sight. Sera’s roof adjusts from 0 to 120 degrees, but has no published privacy or acoustic rating. Assess motor sound separately from neighborhood-noise control.
Open louvers leave gaps through the roof. Check the neighbor’s window position with the roof in the positions you expect to use. Closing the louvers may address a direct overhead view, but should not be treated as complete privacy from every nearby window.
Closing the roof leaves side views open
Sera posts and beams leave the sides open. A closed roof therefore does not hide seating from a neighboring yard at the same level. Mark the views from the fence, pathway and adjacent windows before placing the sofa or table. Plan any side privacy around those specific directions.
If you are considering fabric for side privacy, review the curtain mounting and use requirements. Confirm a suitable separate installation rather than attaching fabric to the moving roof or assuming it is included.
Confirm any side closure separately
Side-privacy concept; confirm any closure and its installation separately on your quotation.
Side screens and solid walls are not listed in the current Sera kit description. A separate closure, if proposed and approved, covers the directions it is designed to screen; other sides remain open. Confirm its mounting and the views it will block. A privacy closure has no established sound-reduction performance without evidence for that specific installation.
| Sightline | Practical check | Sera planning note |
|---|---|---|
| Directly above the roof | Check the view with louvers open and closed | Roof movement is 0 to 120 degrees; no privacy rating |
| Across the fence | Map the seating and any proposed separate closure | Open sides remain visible when the roof closes |
| Street or neighbor noise | Ask for evidence relevant to the proposed installation | No acoustic reduction rating is published |
Review the side-enclosure requirements and mark nearby windows on the project planner. Ask Louvano whether a suitable separate privacy closure is available, and request an itemized quotation covering its mounting and installation.
Questions about neighbors
Does a closed roof hide the patio?
The Louvano Sera Motorized Louvered Pergola can close its louvers to obstruct a direct view through the roof from above. Louvano publishes 0 to 120 degree movement, but no privacy rating. Views through open sides remain possible. Check the actual window sightline when planning the Louvano Sera Motorized Louvered Pergola position and seating layout.
Can the neighbor at the fence still see in?
The Louvano Sera Motorized Louvered Pergola is shown with open sides, so closing the roof does not block a neighbor’s horizontal view through them. The Louvano Sera Motorized Louvered Pergola roof adjusts by remote from 0 to 120 degrees. Plan side privacy separately and confirm the materials and installation rather than expecting the roof to hide the seating.
Will the louvers quiet the street?
The Louvano Sera Motorized Louvered Pergola has no published acoustic reduction rating. Its double-wall aluminum louvers and remote operation are product features, but they do not establish soundproofing. Artigwall’s discussion of privacy structures cannot supply a Louvano result. Treat street-noise control as a separate requirement when discussing your Louvano Sera Motorized Louvered Pergola layout.
Are screens included?
The Louvano Sera Motorized Louvered Pergola collection page describes the aluminum frame, moving roof, integrated drainage and concealed motor. It does not currently list a side screen in the published kit description. Ask for an itemized Louvano Sera Motorized Louvered Pergola quotation and confirm any proposed privacy closure, its mounting and the sides it would cover.
