BEFORE YOU CONFIGURE
Measure the space you use.
Bring a tape measure, a few photographs and the dimensions of the furniture you want underneath.

A useful first survey
- 01
Sketch the footprint
Mark the outside area available for the pergola. Keep doors, gates, steps, furniture and your main walking route on the sketch.
- 02
Record width and length
Measure the same edges shown on your sketch. Note whether you measured the available patio, proposed outside frame, or proposed column positions.
- 03
Measure the height constraints
Record nearby eaves, open doors, windows, exterior lights and other overhead obstructions. Photograph a tape measure beside important clearances.
- 04
Describe the ground
Identify concrete, pavers, decking or another surface. Note visible slope, drains and any known information about the base below the finish.
- 05
Photograph the approach
Take one wide photo toward the house, one toward the yard and photos of gates, turns or stairs along the delivery route.
- 06
Keep the raw measurements
Send what you measured and label the measurement points. Final frame dimensions, post positions and anchoring belong in the approved project drawing.
Before final dimensions are approved
Your first survey helps start the conversation. A site-specific review is still needed for foundations, anchoring, wall connections, electrical work and permits. Avoid drilling or ordering a base from a concept model alone.
