What sizes does Louvano sell?
Louvano sells three sizes: 3 × 3 m, 3 × 4 m and 4 × 4 m. All three are motorized aluminum louvered pergolas, built to order. We don't sell other sizes. Our size guide explains how to choose among them.
What size pergola do I need?

Should I get a freestanding or wall-mounted pergola?

Can you put a louvered pergola on concrete or pavers?

Rain, drainage & noise
Do louvered pergolas keep rain out?
With the louvers closed, the roof keeps most rain off the area underneath. Rain runs from the louvers into channels in the beams and down through the posts. The sides are open, so wind can blow rain in at the edges, and furniture near the edges can get wet. How does a louvered pergola drain water?
Louvano pergolas use concealed drainage. Water runs from the closed louvers into beam channels, down through the posts, and out near the post bases. How much water can the drainage handle?
We don't publish a drainage flow rate. Keeping the louvers and beam channels clear of leaves, and checking that water drains freely near the post bases, helps the full path stay open. If heavy rain is common where you live, email hello@louvano.com with your questions before you order.
Why does water pool on top of closed louvers?
Some water can sit on closed louvers after rain. Tilting the louvers with the remote lets it run off, so do this before you set out cushions or dishes. If water collects in the same spot after every storm, or a beam channel overflows in light rain, the frame may be out of level or debris may be blocking the path. Clear what you can reach safely from the ground and send photos to support@louvano.com.
Should I shim one side of the pergola so it drains better?
We advise against shimming posts or tilting the frame on your own. The drainage path is built into the louvers, beams, and posts, and leveling should be confirmed against the product drawings and local codes. If water keeps pooling, contact support@louvano.com with photos.
Is a louvered pergola noisy in the rain?
Yes, you will hear rain. Rain on an aluminum roof makes a patter that gets louder in a heavy storm, and you may hear water moving through the posts. How loud is the motor?
The motor is hidden in the frame and runs only while the louvers rotate, so you hear a short hum and then it stops. We don't publish a decibel number. See how loud is a motorized pergola.
Why does my pergola drip on dry mornings?
That is usually condensation. On cool, humid nights, moisture can form on aluminum louvers and drip in the morning even without rain. It normally dries off as the morning warms up.
Materials & care
What is a Louvano pergola made of?
The frame and louvers are aluminum. The louvers are double-wall aluminum, the finish is powder-coated, and the fasteners are 304 stainless steel. The louvers rotate from 0 to 120 degrees.
How do I take care of an aluminum louvered pergola?

Permits & HOA
Do I need a permit for a pergola?
It depends on your address. Ask your building department, and your HOA if you have one, because those are two separate reviews. Our pergola permit guide lists the questions to ask, and we can't promise how either review will turn out.
Do I need an electrical permit for a motorized pergola?

Power & controls
How do you control a Louvano pergola?
With a remote control. The motor is hidden in the frame, and the louvers rotate 0–120°.
What electrical work does a motorized pergola need?
The motor needs power from your home's electrical system. A licensed electrician should plan the connection, and it should be confirmed against the product drawings and local codes. See motorized pergola electrical requirements.
What if the power goes out?
The louvers are motor-driven, so they need power to move by remote. If outages are a concern where you live, ask hello@louvano.com how your configuration behaves before you order.
What should I do if the remote stops working?
